A new jungle safari circuit has been opened at Lohara in Chandrapur's forest range, signaling a significant effort to grow eco-tourism and enhance wildlife conservation. The facility was officially inaugurated by tribal development minister and Chandrapur guardian minister Dr. Ashok Uike.
The Lohara gate serves as the entry to a new 35-km tourism route, utilizing existing forest and kutcha roads. This development is intended to foster better forest and wildlife management, promote coexistence between humans and animals, and generate employment via tourism, thereby lessening local reliance on forest products.
The safari area incorporates 15 artificial waterholes and the natural Lohara lake, creating a year-round water source to aid wildlife movement and improve visitor viewing experiences. The region is home to diverse fauna, including tigers, leopards, and various deer species, alongside rich bird and butterfly populations.
