- Initial observations ruled out poaching and external injuries.

A two-year-old tigress was discovered deceased under mysterious circumstances near Chicholi village along the Irai river in Chandrapur district. This marks the first reported tiger death in the district for the year. The carcass, estimated to be two days old, was found in a non-forest area within the Chandrapur forest range.
Forest officials noted that the body was intact with no visible external injuries, which prima facie suggests against poaching or physical assault. However, the advanced decomposition of the carcass, believed to have been submerged in water, has complicated the investigation. A postmortem was performed, but its findings were inconclusive.
While drowning has been ruled out by veterinary doctors, the precise cause of death remains undetermined pending the results of biological samples sent for laboratory analysis. Officials are awaiting these reports to shed light on the mysterious demise of the young tigress.
