The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP), coordinated by Italy, recently held its second biennial Symposium in Bucharest, Romania. This key event gathered 150 stakeholders to define priorities for the partnership's next phase. The SBEP, co-funded by Horizon Europe, involves 75 organizations across 32 countries, focusing on research and innovation for a thriving marine and maritime economy.
Significant progress has been made, with 43 projects launched and more under evaluation. Planned annual joint calls until 2028 will further expand this collaborative effort. The initiative has already delivered practical solutions like digital twins, advanced offshore platforms, sustainable aquaculture, and marine spatial planning tools, all contributing to environmental protection and economic development for coastal regions.
