In November 2025, a remarkable wildlife sanctuary has emerged in western India, near the city of Jamnagar. Spanning 1,400 hectares, the Vantara ("Star of the Jungle") park is the world's largest private wildlife reserve, owned by Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest man.
Vantara is home to an astonishing array of exotic animals, including hordes of leopards, lions, and other big cats, as well as 1,000 crocodiles, hundreds of pythons and boas, and dozens of endangered great apes. The sanctuary also houses rare species like Asiatic brown bears, snow leopards, and the Spix's macaw, a blue parrot once considered extinct in the wild.
The park, which is not open to the public, made its debut in March 2024 during the lavish pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani, Mukesh's youngest son. The festivities, broadcast live on Indian television, featured the animals prominently, alongside pop star Rihanna and 5,500 pyrotechnic drones. VIP guests, including Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and philanthropist Bill Gates, were invited to explore the sanctuary's state-of-the-art facilities, including a neonatal unit and veterinary clinics, as well as jacuzzis for the elephants.
Vantara represents Anant Ambani's personal project, a remarkable wildlife haven that has captivated the world with its sheer scale and the diversity of its inhabitants.
