Eco-tourism in Bihar has experienced a significant upswing, with a 35.7% increase in visitor numbers from 2022-23 to 2024-25. This rise indicates a growing appreciation for destinations offering natural beauty, wildlife, and adventure.
Key sites like Rajgir Nature Safari saw visitor numbers nearly double, while Karamchat Dam in Kaimur experienced a more than threefold increase in footfall. Bhimbandh Eco-Tourism Centre also reported substantial growth.
The state aims to expand its eco-tourism circuit, which includes diverse locations like Valmiki Tiger Reserve and Nagi-Nakti Bird Sanctuary. This expansion is planned alongside conservation efforts and local community development.
To facilitate growth, the government organized an Eco-Tourism Investors Meet in July 2026, inviting private investment through public-private partnerships. Numerous projects, particularly those centered around water bodies, have been identified for development under the Bihar Tourism Policy.
