Residents in several villages in northern Poland's Ciechanów County have been alerted to a possible puma sighting in local woodlands. The animal was reportedly observed using thermal imaging by an experienced individual, and a large cat paw print was found nearby, though the species is not yet confirmed.
Plans are in place to safely tranquilize and capture the big cat if located, rather than resorting to lethal measures. Residents are instructed not to approach, chase, or attempt to capture the animal themselves, but to retreat to safety and contact emergency services if spotted. This incident follows two previous potential puma sightings in Poland earlier this year.
In July, a similar animal was sighted and filmed near Polanów, leading to a confirmed capture and transport to Poznań zoo. Another sighting occurred at the end of June near Leniuszka, where an employee described a large, puma-like animal with a reddish-grey coat. These events highlight a recurring presence of large felines in Polish wildlife.
