Summary
- Bezos Earth Fund commits $4.8 million to climate solutions.
- Funding supports 48 nominated projects not selected as finalists.
- Organizations receive $100,000 each to scale operations.
The Bezos Earth Fund, chaired by Jeff Bezos and with Lauren Sanchez Bezos as vice chair, has committed $4.8 million over three years to support 48 climate and nature solutions. These organizations were nominated for the Earthshot Prize but did not reach the finalist stage.
The initiative, announced on February 4, 2026, is a partnership with the Earthshot Prize. It aims to bolster promising environmental projects by helping them scale their operations and increase their impact. Each year, 16 organizations will receive grants of $100,000, totaling $1.6 million annually from the fund.
The selected projects span critical areas such as carbon removal, wildlife conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable technology. This program extends funding opportunities beyond the Earthshot Prize's main selections, recognizing the value of a broader network of environmental innovators.
Dr. Kelly Levin of the Bezos Earth Fund highlighted the need to grow promising innovations, while Jason Knauf of the Earthshot Prize emphasized the global pipeline of environmental problem-solvers. The first cohort includes diverse organizations like Air Protein, Instituto Floresta Viva, and Hyperion Robotics, each receiving $100,000 to advance their work.
The Earthshot Prize, founded by Prince William in 2020, focuses on five challenges: protecting nature, cleaning air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world, and fixing climate. This collaboration with the Bezos Earth Fund expands its mission by providing additional financial support to worthy nominees who may not have been finalists.
