An intensive search operation is underway in Bijnor's Nagina tehsil after a Himalayan black bear cub was sighted in agricultural fields near Garavpur village. The cub was first seen perched on a tree, and a video of its appearance circulated widely on social media. Forest officials suspect the cub may have wandered from the Sahuwala forest range.
Divisional Forest Officer Jai Singh Kushwaha confirmed that ground teams and drones are actively tracking the animal. Local villagers have been alerted and cautioned against approaching or provoking the cub, given the unpredictable nature of bears. The forest department plans to safely capture and release the cub back into its natural habitat once found. This incident highlights recurring human-wildlife encounters in the Bijnor region.
