Animal Rescue Faces Third Forced Move
8 Feb
Summary
- Rescue centre needs 20-30 acres of grazing land nearby.
- The charity supports people with mental health issues.
- Another charity offered funds for permanent land purchase.

A dedicated animal rescue centre specializing in older and neglected horses and donkeys is facing an urgent appeal for a new location, marking the third such displacement in its history. French's Care Haven, currently operating on rented land in Boxford, Suffolk, must relocate as the property has been put up for sale. The organization requires approximately 20-30 acres of grazing land within a 10-mile radius of its existing site, with only a four-week notice period.
This situation is particularly stressful for the charity, which also offers crucial therapeutic support to individuals grappling with mental health issues like depression and anxiety, as well as the elderly experiencing loneliness. Founder Jann Turner highlighted the life-changing impact the centre has had on young people, boosting their confidence and job prospects. The charity has rented its current location for six years and a previous site for eleven years.
Despite the challenges, there is a glimmer of hope. Another charity, Willowtree Sanctuary, has committed funds to assist French's Care Haven in acquiring a permanent home. However, these funds are held in trust and are designated solely for land purchase. The charity is keen to remain in the local area to retain its dedicated volunteers and community support network.
