The new system, monitored by trained operatives, utilizes AI to record footage from all angles and detect illegal dumping as it happens. It also features automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) software, enabling faster identification of suspected offenders. Council officials emphasize that the deployment sends a clear message against illegal dumping, highlighting its detrimental impact on communities, wildlife, and taxpayer finances due to cleanup costs. A similar initiative in Dartford, Kent, reportedly led to substantial reductions in fly-tipping.
