- The zoo now houses eight tigers, including four yellow and four white tigers.
Siddharth, a 17-year-old male tiger and a major draw at the Siddharth Garden and Zoo, passed away on Thursday night. Officials cited complications from old age as the cause of death for the beloved animal.
In recent days, Siddharth had shown a marked decline, with slowed movements and reduced appetite. Veterinary staff noted he had been suffering from constipation for eight days prior to his death. Despite intensive observation and treatment, including saline and injections, his advanced age prevented recovery. Tigers in captivity typically live between 16 and 18 years.
Following Siddharth's passing, the zoo's tiger population is now eight. This includes four yellow tigers (one male, three females) and four white tigers (two males, two females). An autopsy was conducted, followed by a cremation in the presence of forest officials. Siddharth Garden Zoo is the only zoological facility in the Marathwada region.
