Agile5 Technologies, a local IT solutions company, hosted the banquet, emphasizing the importance of investing in young talent. "When we invest in promising young students early, through encouragement, exposure, and real-world connection, we strengthen not only individual futures, but the entire technology ecosystem of our state," said Lisa L. Fritsch, president & CEO of Agile5.
Five students received awards: Sreyan Das from Morgantown High and Kennedy Fisher from Cabell Midland High were named National Award winners. Rylan Adams and Gavin O'Neal, both from Valley High, received the Rising Star award, while Kathryn Southall from Robery C. Byrd High won Honorable Mention. These students represent Monongalia, Cabell, Wetzel, and Harrison counties.
The NCWIT, based in Boulder, Colorado, aims to build confidence and provide long-term opportunities for students exploring computing and technology. Since 2007, over 25,000 students nationwide have received an AiC Award, underscoring the growing importance of computing skills in today's economy.
