Abbotsford VP's Boundary Violations Exposed

A former vice-principal from an Abbotsford high school has been disciplined for professional misconduct. Michael David Hendricks admitted to repeatedly violating professional boundaries with female students. The Commissioner for Teacher Regulation found his actions included private messaging on platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. He also engaged with students' personal social media accounts.

Further misconduct involved meetings outside of school hours. Hendricks attended girls' volleyball games and hockey matches, and met students for meals after graduation. These actions, while sometimes initiated by students, created perceptions of favoritism and discomfort. Hendricks has agreed to a three-week suspension of his teaching certificate and must complete a course on professional boundaries.
