Madras Christian College is fostering a literary movement that champions inclusion and creativity, exemplified by its recent publication, 'Ennam Ezhuththaadal - I'. This anthology showcases original writings from 52 visually impaired students, turning them into published authors. The initiative began with a focused two-day workshop designed by Assistant Professor Dr S Muthukandhan, aiming to enhance writing skills and confidence among visually challenged students.
Student volunteers and postgraduate scholars played a crucial role, acting as scribes and editors to refine the students' work for publication. This collaborative effort ensured that every student's voice could be expressed. Dr Muthukandhan, inspired by his own mentors, aims to make writing accessible and nurture emerging literary talent. He has since replicated the program, creating another anthology, and plans further research to develop a structured writing framework.
