In response to an alleged assault by a hostel warden in October, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented new safety protocols for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs). Eminent women from the Aakanksha Samiti will now visit schools every 15 days to address student concerns and suggest improvements, ensuring a consistent oversight.
Furthermore, all KGBVs will undergo mandatory quarterly surprise inspections conducted by three-member teams, including education officials. This initiative aims to proactively identify and rectify any deficiencies. Students will also have access to locked dropboxes for anonymously reporting grievances, with prompt action promised for serious issues.
The directive also mandates that CCTV cameras in essential areas remain functional and that student feedback on staff conduct is collected. These measures are designed to bolster student safety and create a more secure learning environment across all KGBVs in the state.
