UP Board Tackles Exam Cheating with Signature Rule
28 Jul
Summary
- UPMSP to print student signatures on admit cards starting 2027 exams.
- Signatures will be matched against answer sheets and attendance.
- This measure aims to prevent impersonation and enhance exam fairness.

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is set to implement a significant change for the 2027 board examinations, requiring student signatures to be printed on admit cards. This measure is a direct response to reported cases of impersonation in previous exams, where cheating rackets allegedly used manipulated photos to send proxy candidates.
The new process involves collecting students' signatures during the ongoing registration for the 2026-27 academic session. These printed signatures will be meticulously compared against the student's actual signature on their answer sheets and attendance registers during the exams. Officials anticipate this will significantly bolster identity verification and deter fraudulent activities.
In parallel, the UPMSP is managing the registration and fee submission deadlines for the upcoming examinations. Private candidates have until August 5 to submit their forms and fees, with a grace period extending to August 16 for late submissions with a penalty. School principals are responsible for uploading student data and fee information by specified deadlines in August and September.
