The University of North Florida is set to develop an innovative STEM education tabletop role-playing game, thanks to a $1.3 million grant from the National Science Foundation. Dr. Brian Lane will spearhead the initiative, which aims to integrate scientific principles with collaborative storytelling through a game named 'Adventures with Emmy.'
This educational game will draw inspiration from the significant contributions of mathematician and physicist Emmy Noether, known for her foundational theorem in theoretical physics. The project includes a collaborative effort with the University of Colorado Boulder, a renowned institution in STEM education research.
Upon completion in summer 2028, the game's rules and adventures will be made freely available to the public, educators, and developers. Playtesting events are scheduled to begin in Jacksonville in March 2026, with further outreach planned.
