In November 2025, the University of North Dakota (UND) received the prestigious Vector Solutions Campus Prevention Network Seal of Prevention for the year. This recognition highlights UND's ongoing efforts to expand and create new initiatives aimed at keeping the campus community safe and healthy.
The assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students, Alex Pokornowski, expressed satisfaction with this validation, stating that the hard work and conversations undertaken by himself and many others around the campus have been acknowledged. Pokornowski emphasized that campus safety is an ever-evolving and never-ending endeavor, as there are always more ways to improve and address emerging needs and concerns.
UND was the only institution in North Dakota to earn the Seal of Prevention this year, which was awarded to 452 colleges and universities nationwide. The seal is given to institutions that deliver comprehensive digital programming on critical topics such as mental health, sexual assault, alcohol misuse, and discrimination. This is the first year UND has received the recognition, reflecting the university's commitment to enhancing the overall wellbeing and safety of its campus community.
