- The center serves hundreds daily from Trichy and nearby districts.

Aspirants preparing for competitive examinations in Trichy have voiced strong opposition to the local corporation's decision to shorten the operating hours of the Cantonment knowledge and study centre. The facility's schedule has been reduced to 8 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm, a change that has drawn significant protest from its users.
These students, who come from Trichy and neighboring districts like Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Karur, and Perambalur, rely on the center for intensive preparation for exams such as UPSC, TNPSC, and banking tests. Approximately 200 individuals utilize the center each day. The proposed change, initially set to take effect on September 1st, follows an incident where a few unruly aspirants reportedly engaged in arguments with staff.
Protesting aspirants argue that limiting access for everyone due to the actions of a few is unfair. They also highlighted existing issues, such as a vacant mentor position and concerns regarding the maintenance of drinking water and toilet facilities. Officials have assured that the aspirants' demands are under consideration.
