- Program fosters healthier habits and improves focus in children.
- Tesco is doubling the program to over 1,000 schools by September 2026.

More than 500 schools across the UK are now benefiting from Tesco's Free Fruit & Veg for Schools program. This initiative provides children with fresh produce during the school day, aiming to instill lifelong healthy eating habits.
The program, launched in 2024, has shown encouraging results. Teachers noted a 94% improvement in behavior and sharper focus among pupils, with 99% reporting increased willingness to try a wider variety of foods. For many children, these are their first experiences with diverse fruits and vegetables.
Recognizing the success, Tesco plans to expand the initiative. By September 2026, the program will reach over 1,000 schools, with a greater emphasis on vegetables. This expansion aims to support schools in nearly every community where Tesco has a store.
Beyond the school program, Tesco supports families with initiatives like free fruit or vegetables for children while shopping and the 'Kids Eat Free' offer in Tesco cafes. These efforts contribute to Tesco's commitment to increasing healthy food sales by 2030.
