Teen Leads Global Neurodivergent Support Network

A high school senior from California has spearheaded a burgeoning global movement dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children and their families. Nithya Ravuri, a student at Emerald High School in Dublin, California, founded Sevah Neuro to provide crucial resources, foster social connections, and build community support for children with neurological differences.

What began as a local effort to create learning materials has rapidly evolved into an international non-profit organization. Sevah Neuro now comprises over 500 members and has established 15 chapters not only across the United States but also in countries such as India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Mexico.

The organization's impact is significant, highlighted by its Sevah Pediatric Neuroinclusion Fellowship. This five-week online summer program offers life-skills lessons and organized social activities for more than 400 neurodivergent children, creating a safe space for growth and learning.

Ravuri, who serves as the organization's leader, has navigated the administrative and personal challenges of running a global non-profit while attending high school. She emphasizes the importance of consistent effort and dedication, noting that Sevah Neuro's growth stems from ongoing commitment rather than isolated events.

Beyond direct support and educational programs, Sevah Neuro is actively engaged in policy advocacy. The organization has lobbied California state officials for increased awareness and resources concerning neurodivergence, with aspirations to extend this advocacy to federal lawmakers. Future plans include developing an educational book and a mobile app to enhance access to learning tools for parents and caregivers.

Looking ahead, Ravuri envisions Sevah Neuro becoming a lasting institution, capable of establishing specialized trusts and physical educational centers. The ultimate goal is for the organization's impact on children and families to be its defining legacy.
