At the 49th Kolkata International Book Fair, a teacher from Chakdaha, Nadia, demonstrated profound dedication to knowledge by spending nearly ₹3.69 lakh on books. Dr Debabrata Chatterjee, a teacher by profession, actively curates two private libraries that are accessible to the public.
These libraries, located in Chakdaha and Ranaghat, collectively house more than 20,000 volumes. Chatterjee believes in the circulation of knowledge, making these books available for students and scholars to read and borrow. His own journey with literature began in 1994 during a visit to the Kolkata Book Fair as a child.
Chatterjee, who has authored around 41 books, aims to further expand his library collection at the upcoming 50th Kolkata Book Fair. He views books not merely as items, but as crucial tools for shared enlightenment and cultural preservation.
