Tamil Nadu MBBS Admissions Begin: Seats Fill Fast!

The counselling process for MBBS and BDS admissions in Tamil Nadu commenced on Thursday, August 13, 2026. In-person counselling was conducted for special category candidates, including those with physical disabilities, sports quotas, and children of ex-servicemen, alongside a significant 7.5% reservation for students from government schools. Approximately 614 seats were available under the 7.5% reservation category, with additional seats pending approval.

Online choice filling was enabled for general category candidates. Health Minister K.G. Arunraj distributed allotment orders, emphasizing the government's commitment to addressing concerns about undue charges by private colleges, provided evidence is presented. The event saw inspiring stories from students like M. Lavanya and B.S. Dharanish, who overcame challenges to secure medical seats. Notably, 51-year-old A. Sureshkumar, a marketing professional, also secured a seat under the physically disabled category, pursuing his passion for science.
