The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is implementing a new, year-round counseling program to support students' mental health and combat substance abuse. This initiative is a partnership with the Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre, with a memorandum of understanding currently being finalized.
The program will offer comprehensive support, extending beyond the traditional exam-period assistance. It aims to address rising concerns about student stress, addiction, and the need for effective career guidance. Experts from Muktangan will provide counseling services and career advice.
To further support students, the initiative includes the creation of educational videos focusing on stress management, exercise, diet, and the dangers of addiction. A dedicated helpline will also be established, available to students from all grades, not just those in Class X and XII. Schools will also host awareness sessions, both online and offline.
