Son Fulfills Father's Dream With Sword of Honour

Eight years after his father, Inderjeet Singh Hora, passed away, Gurkeerat Singh Hora achieved a significant military milestone. On September 5, 2025, he graduated from the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, earning the prestigious Sword of Honour, awarded to the best all-round graduating officer-cadet. This achievement coincided with Teacher's Day, adding a profound emotional layer as it marked the fulfillment of a promise made to his father, a former NCC teacher.

Gurkeerat's journey was marked by perseverance. Despite not clearing the National Defence Academy entrance after three attempts, his father's inspiration fueled his determination. Tragically, he lost his father in 2018, shortly before his Class 10 boards. Nevertheless, he pursued computer engineering while working and supporting his family. His eighth attempt at the Combined Defence Services exam in 2025 proved successful for NCC Special Entry.

Before joining the academy, Gurkeerat faced a medical hurdle due to gall bladder stones but opted for surgery, completing his 11-month rigorous training. His mother, Jasmeet Kaur Hora, and other family members were present at the passing-out parade, witnessing his triumph and making them proud.
