Roade Primary School, located near Northampton, recently marked a significant milestone: its 150th anniversary. Children embraced the celebratory spirit by dressing in costumes that represented different eras from the school's extensive history.
Established in 1876 with an initial enrollment of 77 pupils, Roade Primary began in a modest Victorian building. Over the decades, it has expanded to meet the needs of the growing village community. Today, the school serves approximately 300 pupils and has seen numerous additions, including new classrooms and a modern two-storey extension featuring eight additional classrooms.
A teacher-led nursery has also recently opened, further enhancing the school's offerings. The anniversary events provided an opportunity for current pupils to learn about the school's past and contemplate its future. Staff members who are also former pupils expressed their strong connection to the institution, with some returning to teach in the community they grew up in.
