- Water conservation is a key component of curriculum.

In an effort to combat the growing threat of climate change, the Rajasthan education department, in partnership with UNICEF, has developed a specialized 40-minute lesson plan. This initiative targets government school students from grades 6 to 12, aiming to educate them on protection against heatwaves and extreme heat.
The module, titled 'Rajasthan Mein Bhishan Garmi' (extreme heat in Rajasthan), emphasizes sensitizing students to the impacts of intense heat. It covers crucial protective measures, promotes water conservation, and encourages environmental protection, linking practical activities to academic concepts like mathematics.
Students will learn to identify the signs of heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and the life-threatening condition of heatstroke. Teachers are guided to initiate discussions about personal experiences with heat and perceived temperature changes over the years.
A pilot test of the module was successfully conducted before the summer vacation, a period of peak heat in the state. The program seeks to foster a deep understanding of climate change and practical strategies for mitigating heatwave effects among young learners.
