Rajasthan's education department is set to launch 'Mission Padho Rajasthan' for students in government schools from Class 1 to 8. This statewide campaign will commence on Wednesday and run until January 16 of next year. The core of the initiative involves dedicating the final period of each school day to reading activities.
The 'Reading Promotion Campaign' under 'Mission Padho Rajasthan' seeks to enhance students' reading fluency and comprehension skills. By fostering a love for reading, the department aims to boost imagination, creativity, critical thinking, and reasoning abilities among young learners.
Activities will include storytelling, poetry recitation, group reading, and book reviews. Students will have the opportunity to choose their own books and engage in discussions. The campaign also plans 'Read-a-Thon' events in various community spaces to highlight a collective commitment to reading.
To further promote literacy, parents will be encouraged to read with their children at home. Community involvement will be sought through events like Mega PTMs and World Literacy Day celebrations. This initiative builds upon previous efforts, including an oral reading fluency campaign that evaluated over 35 lakh students last May.
