The PGI administration has decided to initiate its undergraduate MBBS program in 2027 from its main campus, aligning with admissions for other AIIMS-level institutions. This medical college will accept students through the NEET entrance examination.
The program will commence with an initial intake of 50 MBBS seats. This class strength is projected to grow to 125 seats within the subsequent three to four years, contingent on the completion of the Sarangpur center. The syllabus has received approval from academic and finance committees, awaiting final ratification.
An in-principle approval has been secured from the ministry of finance for the establishment of a 125-seat MBBS medical college at the Sarangpur campus, involving an investment of Rs 456 crore. The first phase of this project includes the medical college, administrative block, an 800-seater auditorium, and residential facilities.
The master plan for the integrated development of the Sarangpur site is being prepared by HSCC and is expected to receive formal clearance from UT authorities by September 30, 2027. Construction will begin after this clearance.
