Summary
- A new German language centre launched in Bengaluru for nurses.
- Karnataka and German agencies signed an MoU for healthcare careers.
- B2-level German proficiency is mandatory for nursing jobs in Germany.

Aspiring nurses and healthcare professionals in Karnataka now have a clearer path to careers in Germany. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC) and the German agency DeFa has led to the establishment of a telc German Language Examination Centre in Bengaluru. This facility is set to accelerate the professional migration pathway for Indian healthcare workers.
The new centre, located at the Karnataka German Technical Training Institute in Peenya, was inaugurated recently. KVTSDC has already begun identifying candidates, primarily nurses, who will receive specialized German language training. This program directly addresses the linguistic requirements for healthcare employment in Germany, where a B2 level of German proficiency is essential for registered nurses.
DeFa, an entity supported by the German Federal Ministry of Health, ensures ethical and transparent recruitment of international healthcare staff. The telc exams are globally recognized, aligning with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This collaboration marks a significant step towards accessible, high-quality language certification for Indian healthcare professionals seeking opportunities abroad.
