New Schools Open Doors in Waterloo Region

Waterloo Region experienced a significant expansion in educational facilities as several new schools opened their doors this week. A groundbreaking joint campus, Giinawind Public School and Guardian Angels Catholic School, welcomed students on Wesley Boulevard. This collaboration between the Waterloo Region Catholic District School Board and Waterloo Region District School Board aims to better serve the growing Cambridge community.
Elsewhere in the region, Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in Kitchener opened its doors to Grades 7-10. This marks the first new secondary school constructed in the area since 2006, designed to accommodate future growth and student needs.
Further expanding educational opportunities, Guelph welcomed its first new public high school in nearly 60 years, Two Rivers Secondary School. Brantford also celebrated the opening of Blanche E. Williams Public School, named in honor of a pioneering Black woman in Canadian higher education.
