A new primary school is set to be built in Paddock Wood, Kent, following approval from a Kent County Council committee. The proposals, which have been discussed for a decade, were backed by councillors on Tuesday.
The planned one-form-entry school, located on Mascalls Court Road, is slated to open from 2028. It is designed to serve approximately 700 homes that are either completed or scheduled for construction within the next three years. Additionally, the plans include provisions for a nursery and spaces for children with special educational needs.
Council officials highlighted the significant increase in the child population anticipated in Paddock Wood. The decision now rests with the local authority's cabinet member for education, who must approve funding for the design stages and legal establishment of the new school.
