Alva's Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Mijar, Moodbidri, will inaugurate on Monday, reserving 54 seats for the Tulu-speaking minority community. The institution has received approval from the National Medical Commission to admit 150 students for the MBBS course for the 2026-27 academic year.
The college aims to provide quality medical education, focusing on compassion and social service. It boasts modern infrastructure, spacious classrooms, an auditorium, and a 24/7 library. Experienced professors and advanced technology are integrated into the curriculum.
Established in 1986, Alva's Health Centre has grown into a 650-bed multidisciplinary hospital, offering extensive clinical training. Alva's also manages community health centers and has upgraded its 'Punarjanma Centre' into a 50-bed mental health hospital.
Future plans include a 650-bed hospital, a care unit for the elderly, dialysis and eye care departments, and a palliative care center. Alva's Medical College is the eighth institution in Dakshina Kannada offering MBBS.
