The NEET UG 2026 re-examination commenced today, June 21, 2026, for more than 2.27 million students across India. This decision followed the cancellation of the original exam held on May 3 due to widespread allegations of question paper leaks. Authorities deemed a re-examination crucial to maintain the credibility of one of the country's most significant entrance tests.
Investigations into the alleged leaks, reportedly involving organized networks in regions like Rajasthan, led to Supreme Court intervention. Consequently, the May 3 examination was nullified. All previously registered candidates were automatically eligible for the re-exam without additional fees, with refunds initiated for the original test.
Massive security arrangements are in place for the NEET 2026 Re-Exam. Over 1.38 lakh CCTV cameras and more than 51,000 signal jammers are deployed. Biometric verification, AI-powered monitoring, and GPS-tracked transportation for question papers are also part of these stringent measures. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has also actively countered fake leak claims circulating on social media.
