Aryan Gupta, a 17-year-old from Ludhiana, has secured the joint All India Rank-1 in the NEET-UG examination re-test, a significant achievement following the exam's cancellation just over two months prior. The original May 12 exam was called off due to widespread allegations of paper leaks and irregularities, a situation that deeply impacted Gupta.
Despite initial distress, Gupta demonstrated resilience by resuming his studies for the re-test, which was conducted on June 21 for over 22 lakh candidates. He shared the top rank with Panshul Bansal from Haryana, both scoring 715 out of 720 marks.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results, with over 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying. More than 58% of the qualified candidates were women, who also had a higher qualification rate than men.
Panshul Bansal, a student from Delhi, also achieved the top rank with a balanced study routine, emphasizing question practice and mock tests. His ambition is to become a surgeon, possibly in neurosurgery or cardiothoracic surgery, starting his journey at AIIMS.
