The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) education department has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select agencies responsible for supplying meals to students. This initiative covers students from nursery to senior secondary classes in NDMC, Navyug, and aided schools for the period spanning 2026 to 2029.
Selected agencies must provide freshly cooked meals prepared in semi-automated kitchens, operating on a non-profit basis, and following the Centre's PM POSHAN guidelines. The menu will alternate between wheat-based and rice-based options, incorporating dishes like poori with aloo curry and rice with chhole, with added vegetables for enhanced nutrition.
Suppliers must guarantee minimum nutritional standards: 450 calories and 12 grams of protein for younger students, and 700 calories with 20 grams of protein for older ones. Detailed requirements for kitchen facilities, hygiene, and food transportation in sealed, insulated containers are stipulated. Regular quality checks by various authorities will be in place, with penalties for non-compliance.
Interested organizations need at least three years of experience in meal supply, an annual turnover of ₹50 lakh, and operational kitchens within NDMC zones. Bids are due by June 5, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for May 25 at Palika Kendra.
