Defence aspirants in Nashik faced disappointment on Sunday, September 13, 2026, when they were denied entry to the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination-II. The affected candidates, reportedly arriving only two to three minutes past the 9:30 am reporting deadline, blamed Nashik's pothole-ridden roads and resulting traffic congestion for their tardiness. These delays meant missing a critical opportunity, forcing them to wait another year for a chance at their careers.
The district administration, however, firmly refuted the candidates' claims, stating they strictly adhered to UPSC examination guidelines. Resident deputy collector Rohitkumar Rajput emphasized that all examination gates must close at least 30 minutes before the exam commences, a rule uniform nationwide and printed on admit cards. The administration also contested the assertion that roadwork caused the delays, asserting no major excavation was occurring near the centers. Officials indicated that no more than 15 candidates were turned away, out of 3,176 who appeared for the exams across 13 sub-centers.
