Nanjangud School Faces Crisis: 78 Students Taught by One Teacher
17 Sep
Summary
- Alatturu Government Higher Primary School lacks a Headmaster and Assistant Teacher.
- Seventy-eight students are affected by the ongoing teacher shortage.
- Activists warn of protests if immediate action is not taken by authorities.

The Alatturu Government Higher Primary School in Nanjangud taluk is grappling with a critical shortage of teaching staff. The Headmaster position has been vacant for two months following the incumbent's death, and an Assistant Teacher is also urgently needed. Seventy-eight students are currently studying in the school under these challenging circumstances.
The situation is exacerbated as one of the three existing teachers is on medical leave, leaving potentially only one teacher to manage all 78 students. This severe deficit is adversely affecting the quality of education and the students' learning environment.
Community activists, including the AIDSO Mysuru District Committee and the Save Public Education Committee of Alatturu, have submitted memorandums to the Block Education Officer. They are demanding the immediate appointment of a Headmaster and an Assistant Teacher to ensure the school's proper functioning.
Despite bringing the issue to the Block Education Officer's attention a month prior, no action has been reported. Activists have issued a stern warning, vowing to stage protests if the teacher shortage is not addressed promptly, emphasizing the government's stated commitment to prioritizing education.
