Tragedy struck Nadiad when Jay Vijaykumar Patil, a 21-year-old first-year nursing student, was found deceased at his residence on Monday. A suicide note left by Patil addressed to his mother vehemently denied accusations of body-shaming female professors and stated he was being falsely implicated.
Jay Patil had only been enrolled in the nursing program for three months. His suicide note, now with the police, expressed deep distress over being misunderstood and humiliated, asserting he was blamed without proof and would accept responsibility for mistakes. His father, Vijay Patil, has leveled serious accusations against the college administration, claiming his son was deliberately isolated and subjected to extreme pressure.
Vijay Patil informed the police that college authorities had warned him about his son's conduct being monitored and threatened to issue a leaving certificate if no improvement was observed. He stated his son had been under extreme pressure for the past three days, leading to depression, and demanded strict legal action.
College authorities, however, denied any wrongdoing, asserting that interventions occurred when boundaries were crossed and that complaints about Jay's discipline had been lodged. The principal confirmed an internal inquiry was formed and statements from staff, including three female professors, were recorded. The college claimed Jay had submitted written apologies on three occasions and a meeting was held with his mother two days prior to attempt counseling.
