Midland College is set to expand its Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs following a $20 million foundational grant from the Scharbauer Foundation. This significant investment will support the construction of a new Applied Technology Complex, bolstering workforce training across the Permian Basin.
The new complex will feature three additional buildings dedicated to high-demand fields such as Welding Technology, Diesel Technology, Petroleum Technology, Automation, and Natural Gas Compression. This expansion is projected to immediately accommodate over 700 additional applied technology students each year, addressing critical workforce demands in the region.
Beyond technical training, the expansion will also facilitate growth in Health Sciences. By relocating existing programs, the college will gain space to increase dual-credit offerings for area high school students, aiming to enroll approximately 300 more students in these vital healthcare pathways.
