Harman Singh, son of a farmer from Bahraich's underdeveloped Katarniaghat, was awarded the Director's Medal for Best Graduate (MBBS) at the RMLIMS convocation on Monday. His aspiration to become a doctor stems from his remote region lacking basic facilities.
During the ceremony, 340 students received degrees, and 26 were awarded medals. Akansha Jain received the Chancellor's Medal for overall excellence, while Vaishnavi Srivastava, Arvind N, Shubhi Shukla, and Shikha Verma were also recognized for outstanding academic performance in their respective fields.
Governor Anandiben Patel, attending virtually, urged for administrative improvements within 15 days, specifically questioning non-vegetarian food provisions and noting unhygienic conditions at the BC Roy Hostel. She will personally inspect the campus later.
The RMLIMS Director highlighted upcoming facilities, including a 888-bed hostel and a 500-bed patient relatives accommodation. Degrees and marksheets were also made available digitally.
