On Sunday morning, a 26-year-old first-year MS (orthopaedics) student named Chintan Parmar was found hanging in his hostel room at Dr M K Shah Medical College in Chandkheda. Parmar, a native of Jamnagar, was staying in Room 306 of the boys' hostel. His roommate discovered him after returning from a hospital duty and alerted other medical staff.
Emergency services were called, and upon arrival at the hospital, doctors attempted resuscitation but declared him dead shortly after. Police registered a case of accidental death under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and sent the body for postmortem. No suicide note was found.
Preliminary inquiries suggest Parmar had been under stress since arriving at the college about a week prior. Investigators are analyzing his mobile phone and questioning peers and faculty to understand the precise reasons behind his death. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances.
