CCTV Surveillance for MBBS Exams After SOP Violation
29 Oct
Summary
- Medical colleges implemented CCTV surveillance for exams.
- Examinees were frisked before entry to exam centers.
- Health University issued instructions following SOP breach concerns.
Medical colleges throughout West Bengal implemented enhanced security measures for the second professional MBBS theory examination on Thursday. This action followed a breach of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the first pathology paper. The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), responsible for affiliating these institutions, issued instructions on Wednesday after concerns were raised about a potential regression in exam system integrity.
Candidates reported being subjected to frisking by guards using hand-held metal detectors before being allowed into the examination halls. Separate arrangements were made for male and female examinees. College principals confirmed the installation of CCTV surveillance and the arrangement of friskers, with WBUHS agreeing to cover the associated expenses. This move ensures greater transparency and security in the examination process.
