9 Jan
Summary
- University officials opposed a 30-year public-private partnership for land use.
- Concerns over private entity access and long-term university interests were cited.
- Plans included an AI data centre and a medical college on 30 acres.

Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has recently opposed proposals for a significant public-private partnership (PPP) involving a 50-acre land parcel. Senior university officials confirmed that deliberations on developing a portion of the land for an AI data centre and a medical college were halted due to concerns about granting private entities long-term access.
The decision followed a review by a high-ranking panel, which concluded that such an agreement, potentially lasting over 30 years, would not align with the institution's best interests. While some saw potential benefits in a new hospital and medical college for staff and students, the majority voiced apprehension regarding the implications of extended private involvement.
