Lucknow University is set to launch new value-added optional courses from the upcoming academic session. The Abhinavagupt Institute of Aesthetics and Shaiva Philosophy has received approval for programs focusing on creativity through Natya Shastra, classical philosophy through the Indian knowledge system, and mental health management from the Bhagwad Gita.
These co-curricular and vocational courses will be available at the undergraduate level. Semester I and III will feature Bhagwat Gita for holistic well-being and navigating challenges, respectively. Natya Shastra will be offered in Semester II for leadership development and Semester IV for aesthetics.
Postgraduate students will benefit from courses rooted in the teachings of 11th-century philosopher Abhinavagupt. The institute proposed these courses following the UNESCO Memory of the World register listing for Bhagwat Gita and Natyashastra in 2025. Dean Prof. Bhuvneshwari Bharadwaj stated the courses aim to apply Indian philosophy practically in daily life.
