The Govt Jubilee Inter College in Lucknow was the venue for the 'Reading Culture Festival', a vibrant event organized on Tuesday by the secondary education department in collaboration with the National Book Trust. The festival aimed to promote reading as a cornerstone of critical thinking and democratic values. Additional chief secretary Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma emphasized the importance of books, dialogue, and curiosity in shaping future-ready education and nurturing thoughtful citizens.
The event saw poet Yatindra Mishra discuss the intricate links between literature, music, and society, highlighting how reading cultivates sensitivity. Following this, winners of the National Art Festival and school band competition were honored. The cultural segment included captivating performances of violin, Kathak dance, and folk dance, alongside an engaging 'dastangoi' performance by storyteller Himanshu Bajpai.
The festival concluded with a session featuring literary figure Chandrashekhar Verma and storyteller Vaishnavi, who utilized interactive storytelling and emotionally resonant presentations to connect with the audience, further enriching the celebration of literature and arts.
