Kai Weit, a senior at Port Clinton High School, was honored on April 13 with the Franklin B. Walter Award. This award celebrates exceptional academic achievement among Ohio's high school seniors.
The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award Program, established by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association, selects one senior from each Ohio county. Nominees are chosen based on their academic accomplishments, personal achievements, and community service.
Weit demonstrates strong leadership as treasurer for the National Honor Society and Drama Club, secretary for the International Club, and captain of the Academic Challenge Team. He is also a state qualifier and team captain for the PCHS tennis team. He will attend Boston University in the fall to pursue political science with a pre-law specialization.
This marks the second consecutive year a Port Clinton High School student has received this esteemed award, following Sam Roberts last year. The program honors Franklin B. Walter, a former Ohio state superintendent dedicated to enhancing education.
