A food company based in the United Kingdom has secured a contract to supply hot meals to government primary schools throughout Jersey. Apetito Limited, a firm from Wiltshire, has been appointed by Education minister deputy Catherine Curtis.
The agreement encompasses not only meal provision but also menu development, the production of meals, adherence to nutritional standards, and other associated catering services. This initiative is part of Jersey's School Food Programme, which initially launched as a pilot in 2019.
Apetito's selection followed a comprehensive procurement process. The government highlighted that the company demonstrated a strong capacity to meet the programme's nutritional and logistical demands. As part of the updated meal service, fresh fruit will be offered twice a week, replacing a dessert option.
