On October 8, 2025, the Ministry of Education announced that the registration deadline for the Viksit Bharat Buildathon, India's largest-ever school hackathon, has been extended to October 11. The Buildathon, which was launched on September 23, 2025, aims to mobilize more than one crore students from 2.5 lakh schools across the country to ideate, design, and develop prototypes under four key themes: Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi.
The live Buildathon event is scheduled to take place on October 13, 2025, and the winners will be announced in December. The Buildathon calls upon students studying in classes 6-12 to join teams, think creatively, and address real-life challenges facing the nation. The extended registration deadline is expected to allow more students to participate in this nationwide innovation movement.
The Buildathon is being organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission, underscoring the government's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the country's youth.
