The India Post Department is preparing to announce the third merit list for its extensive recruitment of 28,636 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions across the country. This initiative aims to fill numerous roles within various postal sectors.
Two merit lists have already been published, resulting in the shortlisting of approximately 39,765 candidates. The second merit list was released on April 10, 2026, with document verification concluding on April 27, 2026. Applicants not selected in the previous lists are now keenly awaiting the announcement of the third list.
Based on past recruitment cycles, India Post typically releases a new merit list within 10 to 12 days after the document verification for the preceding list concludes. Consequently, the third merit list is tentatively projected for release around May 2, 2026. However, candidates are advised to regularly check the official India Post GDS website for the definitive announcement.
Eligibility criteria for these positions included completing Class 10, familiarity with the regional language, and an age range of 18 to 40 years as of February 16, 2026. Applications were accepted online from February 2 to February 14, 2026.
